An Open Letter to KINDhearted People around the World...

Greetings from the Philippines.

We have about 100 kids in three of our rural churches who need your help. They have dreams of a better life but their families are extremely poor and cannot help them to that end. These kids belong to families where both parents have very low educational attainments, thus, they cannot acquire regular, good-paying jobs. A family usually earns only between US$2-US$3 a day (PhP100-PhP150). Many of these families are quite large with 7-8 children in some instances. Apparently, a lot of the children in these families are malnourished.

Our KINDNESS Kids are smart and could make something of themselves if they were only given the chance.

We are giving you an opportunity to show KINDNESS to these kids. Here's how:

1. One-Time Enrollment Miscellaneous Support: US$4 (for Elementary) and US$15 (for High School). Our country provides free elementary and high school education, but parents have to pay MISCELLANEOUS fees.

2. One-Time School Supplies Support: For as low as US$20 (for Elementary) and US$30 (for High School), you can already provide one student with 10 months worth of school supplies. This will include notebooks, pad paper, bond paper, pencils, pens, crayons, rulers, school bag, pencil case, etc.

3. One-Time School Allowance: For US$120 (or US$12/month or US$3 a week) you can provide one student with a daily school allowance every day for 10 months.

4. One-Time Personal Hygiene Supply: For as low as US$20 you can provide a year's supply of toothpaste, soap, toothbrush, shampoo to one student. The families of these kids are so poor they cannot afford basic things like these. Their budget is not even enough for their daily meals.

5.Clothing Allowance: Depending on the size and age of the child, and the store from which the items will be bought, ONE complete set of clothing [from the shirt (blouse) down to the pants (skirt) and shoes, complete with underwear and socks] can cost between $20-$30 per set (rough estimate). For your computation purposes: Shirt (blouse): $2-4, Shorts/Pants (skirt): $3-5, Shoes: $10-15, Underwear: $1-2. Socks: $1-$2.

6. Used Clothing and Old Children's Books: You can send used children's clothing and books to us at this address:

Purpose

KINDNESS, a ministry of our church geared towards helping kids of poor families finish their education, is looking for Foster Parents for about 100 of our children who will assist them achieve their dream of finishing their elementary and high school education (with a possibility of a College Education for those who deserve it).

These children belong to very poor families that earn between $2-$3 a day (some even less). Many of these children are bright and intelligent but their families, which can be as big as to include 4-6 siblings, cannot afford to maintain their education or educational needs. Although our country has a free-elementary and high school educational program the miscellaneous is not free and so is their daily maintenance (food, fare, ect.) and other school requirements (like uniforms, shoes, projects, etc.).

What You Can Do as a Sponsor

1. Commit to support a child of your own choosing for at least ONE SCHOOL YEAR (or 10 months). You can also have long term commitments if you so desire.

2. Choose what kind of support it's going to be:

a. One time School Miscellaneous fees. This will be determined per school.

b. Weekly Financial Support (Allowance): __ $5/week __$10/week __ $15/week __ $20/Week __ Others, please specify: _____________________

c. School Supplies (books, notebooks, pen, pencils, crayons, bags, pad paper, bond paper, rulers, colored pencils, etc., etc.)

d. Clothing (shirts, pants, socks, underwear, shoes, handkerchiefs, etc., etc.)

e. Personal Hygiene (like soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.)

f. Others (like daily food, etc.).

What We Will Do as Facilitators

1. We will provide you with an introduction and photos of the child with his/her family.

2. We will also provide you with background and other information that you may require (such as name of parents, work of parents, names of siblings, etc.).

3. We will send a monthly report of your foster child via the Internet (email or website) or via snail mail if you so desire.

4. We will send you acknowledgment receipts of everything we receive from you.

5. We will facilitate your meeting with your foster child when you happen to be in our area.

Our Commitment

1. Only the staff of KINDNESS (which is limited to two people per area) will be responsible for disbursing your financial and material assistance to the kids for which they are specifically intended.

2. Only Unlabeled or unspecified financial and material support may be disbursed to children without a Foster Parent.

3. You can terminate your support when we fail to provide you with a monthly report for two consecutive months.

4. We guarantee your total anonymity when you so require it. All communications between the sponsor/foster parent will be via email or private message.

How Do We Go About This

STEP 1
Choose a KINDNESS Kid or Kids you want to sponsor. (Scroll down to "KINDNESS Kids You Can Choose From.") You can sponsor more than one.

STEP 2
Decide what kind of help you are willing to provide and for how long. You can choose one area or you can choose all areas of help.

STEP 3
Contact us through email: kindness_ministry@yahoo.com and inform us of your intentions (or ask us questions or provide us your own requirements like no grade below 80, etc.).

STEP 4
We will acknowledge your email by sending you pertinent data of the KINDNESS Kid/s you have chosen to support and we will also provide you with a form you have to fill out and send back to us.

STEP 5
You send us your financial support through our ministry's bank account or our ministry's address for material support; we will send you an acknowledgment receipt; and disburse your support accordingly.

STEP 6
We provide you with a monthly report of your KINDNESS Kid/s complete with photos.

STEP 7
You can choose to renew your sponsorship every year.
